Before that, she worked for a nonprofit civic engagement organization, as a staffer in the Michigan House of Representatives, and for John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign. She attended the University of Michigan for her bachelor’s degree and Harvard University for her master’s degree. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Lebanon.
